Finding a super power
Let’s start with the heart of this story: my son. If you’re a parent, you probably know the struggle—those mornings when your child digs in their heels and says, “I don’t want to go to school!” That was my reality not too long ago. My child’s resistance to school broke my heart a little, but it also lit a spark. I wanted to help them see school not as a chore, but as a place where they could grow, dream, and build something amazing. So, I went on a mission to find a children’s book that could explain why school matters—not just for learning math or spelling, but for laying the foundation for a future full of possibilities. I wanted a story that showed kids how every lesson, every challenge, every moment in the classroom is like a building block for becoming their own kind of superhero. But after searching bookstores, libraries, and online, I came up empty-handed. There just wasn’t a book out there that captured the message I wanted to share with my child and others. So, I thought, “Well, I’ll just write it myself!” And that’s how *School Makes You Super* was born.
This book is my love letter to kids everywhere—a way to show them that school is where they start discovering their strengths, their passions, and their superpowers. It’s about making learning exciting and helping kids see that every step they take in the classroom is building toward something extraordinary. It’s also a tool for parents, because let’s be honest, we need all the help we can get to navigate those big conversations with our kids!
